A glimpse of the Ayurvedic Treatment for Skin Diseases

One must have definitely heard the question “Which is the largest organ of the body?” Being thrown across classrooms full of school students. Usually, one smart child would shout out the correct answer, ‘skin’. Indeed, our skin is the largest organ in the body. At times, it may seem like it is just a densely packed mass of tissues that cover our internals. But in reality, it is a living, breathing, organ, with a sole purpose of protecting our insides from external/environmental factors. It does this task with the help of the multiple layers of tissue that make it up.

This month, July, and the next, August, are the months representing the monsoon. As per Ayurvedic treatment for skin diseases, during these months, the Pitta dosha aggravates. Most of the heat that accumulates in the human body during the months of summer, start showing up in the body, during these months of monsoon. A lot of these manifestations are usually in the form of Ayurvedic Medicine for Skin Diseases. No wonder, a number of people can be seen, flocking to skin clinics, to get their skin issues fixed. Most of them are unaware of the simple treatments and remedies offered by Ayurveda that can fix their skin issues.

To be specific, the skin is made of seven layers. There is a lot of interlinking of these layers with other tissues such as fat, blood, etc. Ayurvedic Skin Care Tips says that it is this interlinking and other such factors that should be examined to know the exact cause of the particular skin problem. A lot of individuals only apply some topical creams and lotions on the surface of the skin and presume that it will solve the issue. Most of the times that does not happen, and if it does fix it, the issue usually always reappears again.

According to the Ayurvedic skin treatment, most of our health problems stem from improper digestion. The digestive fire plays an important role in our day-to-day health and functioning. Food plays a direct role in the proper functioning of the digestive fire. For example, there some food types which are never to be combined with other food types, during consumption. In fact, a number of food allergies could be chalked up to these incompatible food combinations.

These food combinations generate toxins that seep into different tissues of the body. Some of these allergies may even be skin allergies, thus strengthening the role of good food in the prevention of diseases. Most of the times, it is the diet, or the lifestyle, which is in opposition to the particular season at the time, that causes such conditions to occur.

Skin problems can occur in people of any age. Common skin problems usually cause some discomfort. Many often lead to disfigurement and disability. On rare occasions, they can cause death to the individual. All Ayurvedic treatments for Skin, that help treat skin problems, usually focus on a healing that penetrates the different levels of tissues and fluids, detoxifying them from within.

Ayurvedic cure for Cough and Cold: A need of the Season

It is the season, of rain, of hot tea and delicious accompaniments, of people frolicking amongst the crowd, with multi-colored umbrellas, of children playing football in the sun, of chirping of crickets at odd hours in the night, of children watching the water flowing on the windows of their school buses, of steam coming out of hot street food items bitten in a hurry by the citizens of the city, of puddles filled with contaminated street water, and to end this sentence, finally, of bacteria and viruses present in the air, as a consequence of which, makes it a season of people constantly sneezing, coughing, and falling sick.

During the rains, most of the people will hear, at least once in the week, someone mentioning himself/herself being affected by a cold/cough/fever. Sometimes, entire smaller groups of populations fall sick due to viral fevers. As a result, a lot of times, the individual or group, has to miss school/office/function/event. An unfortunate delay, which can cause a lot of inconveniences. Is the cold or the flu, such a huge problem, such that people have to miss events and postpone their plans for the day? Can’t a cold/flu be managed with the right care and effort? The average time a cold/flu lasts is around 2-14 days.

When it comes to Ayurveda, the conception of a disease or condition is usually because of the build-up of ama in the body. Ama is the equivalent of toxins in modern science. This ama weakens the digestive power of the digestive system. The moment the digestive power gets affected, an imbalance happens in the body’s doshas or the integral constitution and make-up of the body. Sometimes, just a drop in temperature is enough to affect the digestion strength, but most of the time, it is the toxins that are generated due to bad habits and an unhealthy lifestyle. No matter, so many cases require the Ayurvedic cure for a cough to give proper relief from such imbalances and problematic occurrences in the body.

What happens, in detail, at least according to Ayurveda, is that the ama which is generated goes and clogs the micro-channels that are present in the body. As a result, this clogging starts generating phlegm and it is this phlegm that we see and experience, when down with a cold/cough. So, a cold might be seen as a good thing, as it actually helps in removing the unwanted elements from the body. However, it is the quick, efficient, and most importantly, the right recovery from this cold, that needs to be improved upon.

Following are some spices that are used in the science of Ayurveda, for the Ayurvedic cure for cough and cold: clove, aniseed, cinnamon, nutmeg, turmeric, coriander, etc. A particular combination of these spices and other food elements, often act as powerful remedies for treating a cold, cough, or fever. The most herbal cure for cough and cold are in the form of oral solutions and drinks and are therefore readily accepted by the body when compared to modern/synthetic pills and tablets.
